HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Adult learning takes a lot of courage, especially if we re-address skills many of us take for granted.  Adults' past learning experiences may have been frightening, negative and frustrating.  As a tutor, you have the opportunity to make this return to learning very different.

South Central Adult Learning offers informal learning opportunities.  Volunteer tutors for adult learners provide extra one-to-one support for foundational learning, reading, writing, math, basic computer skills and English language and literacy learners   Meeting with adult learners on an ongoing basis to give the additional support they need to reach their learning goals.

Our Volunteer Tutoring program runs from September to June.  All Volunteer Tutors are required to submit a Police Check and attend a Tutor Training 3 hour workshop. Volunteer training happens every September and again in late January (if necessary).  Our volunteers receive continuous support from our volunteer coordinator.
